Ditch the Roles. Rewrite the Rules. (Because Honestly, Who Made Them Anyway?)
Hey there, rebels with a cause—
This week we’re calling BS on the roles you’ve been playing for decades. You know the ones: The Responsible One. The Peacekeeper. The Overachiever. The One Who “Has It All Together” (but also eats peanut butter out of the jar at 11pm while questioning everything).
Here’s the truth:
Most of those roles? They weren’t chosen.
They were assigned.
By your family, your boss, society, or a random comment from Aunt Cheryl back in 1987.
Well guess what?
It’s time to fire those roles.
And write some new life rules that actually reflect who you are now.
🔍 Step 1: Take Inventory of the Characters You're Playing
Before you rewrite anything, you’ve got to know who’s been running the show.
Are you the fixer? The strong one? The martyr? The one who smooths things over even when you’re dying inside?
Spoiler: You didn’t sign up for most of these jobs. They just kind of… happened. Drop me a reply—who have you been pretending to be, and who are you really ready to reclaim?
🔓 Step 2: Let Go of the “Shoulds”
Ah yes, the chorus of “I should be farther along” or “I must keep everyone happy.”
Here’s your permission slip to call BS on every single one.
You don’t need to earn rest. Or love. Or a second act.
You are not your productivity. You’re not your past. You’re not what society thinks someone your age should be doing.
Your only job? Feel better. Align. Choose you.
Mel Robbins calls it waking up. Abraham Hicks calls it alignment. I call it finally living.
🛠 Step 3: Create Life Rules That Don’t Suck
You’ve followed everyone else’s rules long enough. Now it’s time to write your own. Seriously, get moving and start creating your life's playing field. Your rules....
Here’s a starting point:
-
If it drains me, it’s a no.
-
If it makes me laugh-snort, it’s a yes.
-
Rest is productive.
-
Joy is the metric.
-
I don’t explain myself to people who wouldn’t clap at my comeback story.
Now it’s your turn. What are the new rules you're ready to live by?
This isn’t about blowing up your life or running off to Bali (though let me know if you do—I’ll pack a carry-on). It’s about small, powerful shifts that bring YOU back to life.
So let’s start rewriting the script.
And this time, you’re the lead.
Until next time—stay bold and if you break a rule, make sure it was worth it.
